INTRODUCTION: Life is all about association. Remove association from life it becomes vain, painful and boring. In our associations, we solve problems, give succor and answer to some life's questions.


BRIEF HISTORY OF ASSOCIATION OF OBIO/AKPOR YOUTHS (AOY).

 

Association of OBALGA Youths abbreviated AOY started making headlines as one of the fastest growing Social Networking Youth Organization in Obio/Akpor L.G.A in February 11, 2011 orchestrated by one Mr. Thankgod Chimenem Wanyanwu from Rukpokwu Community, who later changed the name of the Organization to Association of Obio/Akpor Youths due to the numerous request by members who preferred Obio/Akpor to OBALGA for easy understanding.



The much anticipated need to setup the first and formidable Youth Government for Obio/Akpor L.G.A and the whole idea behind the formation of AOY was born after a brief meeting between Mr. Thankgod Chimenem Wanyanwu and Hon. Aaron Clinton Chika the then Executive Assistant to the Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government council Prince Timothy E. Nsirim. 


Association of Obio/Akpor Youths (AOY) is the conglomeration of Obio/Akpor sons and daughters within the premise and abroad (Diaspora). The member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Honourable Ogundu Kingsley Chinda in his wisdom and prowess in administration and services highlighted the obvious need to include Indigenes without borders and all permanent residents of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in AOY in one of his numerous contributions to the growth of the Organization. 


"The Association of Obio/Akpor Youths (AOY)" is a Socio-Cultural Non - Profit Organization (NO), Humanitarian and Youth Government Initiative. It is the first social organization in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area that brings youth from different clans, political parties, tribes and culture together for a common goal as a family. AOY encourages inter-community marriage. AOY gives it members the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the development and activities of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. 
The Organization AOY was formed and founded by a viable son of Obio/Akpor ( Mr. Thankgod Chimenem Wanyanwu ) out of a burning desire and sheer tenacity of purpose to organize and impact positively on the youths of OBALGA in order to give them focus and sense of belonging as well as inculcate the culture of good morals, encourage education and promote the cultural heritage of the Obio/Akpor people and Iwhuruohna people at large. 
Association of Obio/Akpor Youths (AOY) was formed subsequent upon the the aims, vision and objectives of uniting the youths and good people of Obio/Akpor, create peaceful co-existence within the bounds and periphery of Obio/Akpor L.G.A, foster love, goodwill, peace, unity, harmony, oneness, discipline, brotherliness and understanding amongst members, produce visionary and disciplined leaders, initiate meaningful programmes that will better the life of the OBALGA youths' and most importantly, partner with NGO's, CBO's, FBO's, Government Agencies, relevant stakeholders and other individuals in carrying out programmes that will bring about rapid growth and development of Obio/Akpor L.G.A among her equals.


The pioneer members includes Chinda Marvin Hanacho, Priestley Nna, Dimkpa-andy Laro O, Igochi Akaninwa, Comr-Ajoku Emeka Ndubuisi, Joshua Obinna Samuel Esq, Hon Amos O Akere, Azeru Oziri, Kelvin C. Amadi, Wuche Nyebuchi Clifford, Nneoma Queen, Samuel Nyebuchi Owabie etc. 


OUR VISION:



1. Our vision is to build a better Society through humanitarian programs, elimination of illiteracy and pulling our human resources together in the betterment of Obio/Akpor among her equals in L.G.A 
2. We envision a better and prosperous society through proper investment and harnessing of our human resources which in turn brings about an endless spill of developmental progress in Obio/Akpor L.G.A.

3. Bringing the youths of Obio/Akpor L.G.A together thus broadening the knowledge of true brotherhood, encouraging inter-community marriage etc. 
OUR MISSION: To proffer and foster solution to the basic problems and challenges affecting our society by:

 

1. Impacting on OBALGA peace and development positively. 


 


2. Motivating and encouraging the citizens to have a positive mind set to issues that pertain to Government and the society; to improve the quality of lives of the citizens. 
3. Fostering the idea of human capacity building investing mainly on human resources and increasing the literacy level and the standard of living in Obio/Akpor through Seminars, Skills Acquisition and Scholarship programmes. 
OUR OBJECTIVES:



1. The advancement of understanding, goodwill, peace through fellowship in business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. 


2. Fostering love and unity among members. 


3. Strengthening and expanding AOY round the globe. 
4. Making known the service of AOY and providing a system of international administration. 


5. Partnering with the Government and other agencies in the area of community development programmes and sanitizing the masses through efficient educative programmes.
